Probate solicitors by postcode area

Every firm on this site has an office somewhere. Put in a postcode and the nearest ones come back first, each with the price it publishes and the date we read it.

Where are you?

Any postcode in England or Wales. If you only know the first letters, those are enough.

Why this is by postcode and not by town

A postcode area is the first one or two letters of an address: GU, B, SW. There are 105 of them holding firms we list, and each one covers a town and the places around it, which is about the size of a sensible search for a solicitor.

Town pages would be a longer list of thinner pages, most of them naming a place where no firm publishes a price at all. This site exists to correct overclaiming, so it does not build a page claiming to cover somewhere it cannot.

Probate here means England and Wales. Scotland has confirmation and Northern Ireland its own probate service, and no firm listed on this site is regulated to act in either.

How a firm is placed

Every firm authorised by the SRA gives an office address on the register, and that postcode is what puts it on the map. The position comes from the ONS Postcode Directory and the county boundaries from the ONS Open Geography Portal, both under the Open Government Licence. It is an office address rather than a service area: most probate work is done by post, by email and by video, so a firm further away may still be the right one. The acknowledgement the Open Government Licence asks for is under the map above.
